We are celebrating the first Made in UK Day on 9th March 2021

Here at VeriVide, we are proudly joining Make it British to celebrate the first Made in UK day on Tuesday 9th March 2021.

Nearly sixty years after its launch, VeriVide is still a proudly British company, with all R&D, design, manufacturing, and testing carried out in-house at our UK headquarters in Leicestershire. We work in partnership with leading UK universities to further advance industrial applications with our colour assessment technology.

In the ten years since it began, the Make it British website has been visited by more than 6.5 million people looking to buy UK-made products and search for UK manufacturers.  This year alone has seen a 68% increase in enquiries since the UK left the EU’s single market and customs union.

UK manufacturing is currently worth £192 billion to the UK economy and employs 2.7 million people. More than 65 million people live in the UK and if everyone bought just one item made in the UK worth £20 on Made in UK Day it would be worth £1.3billion.

By purchasing from UK-made businesses like us you are helping to:

Lower your carbon footprint

Buying products made closer to home means you can significantly reduce the number of miles something has travelled. In turn, this reduces its carbon footprint. UK-made products are often made in much smaller quantities, too. Many can be made to order, discouraging waste within the supply chain.

Not only does buying locally lower your carbon footprint, but one of our main colour management solutions, DigiEye, enables colour swatches to be sent digitally across the supply chain, saving time, money, and CO2 submissions, from not shipping across the world.

Save essential skills

Manufacturing requires skill. Not everyone suits working in a service-based industry. By purchasing a product that is made in the UK you are helping to save skills within local communities. Skills that would otherwise be lost.

Create job opportunities

2.7 million people work within manufacturing in the United Kingdom. When you buy a product that is made in the UK you are directly contributing to keeping someone in employment. We have a team of 30 people working at the VeriVide headquarters, a number that is constantly growing!

Promote UK craftsmanship

When you buy a product that is made in the UK you are helping to preserve craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations. Check out some of the VeriVide production team, each working on a different process that pulls together to process our lighting cabinets.

Boost local economies

Buying locally made directly contributes to your local economy. Spend your money wisely and help contribute directly towards the area in which you live. VeriVide are contributing to the economy, here in the Midlands. As a business, VeriVide always strive to support other local businesses where we can. From buying materials to our website developers and graphic designers, all are local small-medium sized enterprises.

Let’s preserve UK manufacturing

You can boost UK manufacturing just by sharing, liking, or commenting on a post. Help create awareness, support small and support local, lets keep UK manufacturing thriving!
