A frequently asked question is how to find the RAL colour of a particular shade in Photoshop. This is a fairly straight forward process and is explained below in 6 easy steps:
Step 1: Take a screen shot of the object which you want to identify the RAL colour for.
Step 2: Open up a new document in Photoshop and paste the screen shot of the object in here.
Step 3: Select the eyedropper tool (I) on the left hand side of the screen and click on the specific colour that you want to identify.
Step 4: Also on the left hand side of the screen is the set foreground colour – click on this.
Step 5: The colour picker will appear in a pop up window. Near the bottom of the window you will see the hex colour e.g. #831928.
Step 6: Visit http://rgb.to to convert the hex colour to the closest RAL Colour, it will first give you the RGB values. Note the nearest may not be as near as you would like!
For best results you will need a RAL book to check the colour.
