RAL’s Classic range of colour charts and cards launched in 1927 with only 40 colours and now contains 216 colours all labelled with 4-digit numbers. The full registers of standards are available in both matte (RAL 840-HR) and glossy finishes (RAL 841-GL). The colour standard RAL cards record the spectral reflectance curve of the colour and comply with DIN regulations. Safety and signalling colours are often referenced by RAL Classic colour numbers. Several Brand colours are specified in RAL Classic with Aircraft, vehicles and signage painted to match. Industrial Designers, paint manufacturers and powder coated metal producers specify and use RAL colours for products including bridges and sculpture. Architects, Building Contractors and manufacturers of windows and doors also reference RAL Classic.
To choose or specify a colour for your project a RAL Classic fan guide is the ideal starting point, the different styles are all defined by a K reference. K1 and K7 are small, economical guides with multiple colours per page, both have a gloss finish. K5 has one colour per page and is available in either matte or gloss finish. If a larger area of colour is required A6 and A4 can be found in the K6 and K4 collections.
A RAL classic colour fan guide is the ideal starting point to determine the colours needed for your project. RAL K5 is available in both a semi-matte and a gloss finish and has a large area of colour for evaluation. K1 and K7 are cheaper and suitable for fast selection but have smaller colour chips and only provide a gloss version of the colour.
Need a larger colour sample? K6 box contains A6 colour samples of all 216 colours and the K4 study ring binder contains A4 sheets. Individual A4 samples are also available.
The Primary standard collections (RAL 840-HR & RAL 841-GL) are binding standards for production or quality assurance. Each RAL classic card contains a coloured sample along with the X,Y,Z values and reflectance curve.
RAL P1 Plastic Chips collection contains 100 popular RAL Classic colours as large Plastic standards supplied with their colour values and reflectance curve. This product is ideal if you are working with plastic or other hard materials.
